Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 targa Florio (1932) 1/43 scale
The Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 was designed in 1930 by Vittorio Jano to be a race car on the road and was produced from 1931 to 1934. Its engine with 8 cylinders in line was two blocks from 4-cylinder with the third distribution to avoid excessive torsional effects of the camshaft. Thanks to the supercharger supercharger paid the power of 140/175 hp under the 4900/5400 rpm depending on the model and subsequent refinement. The distribution was done with a cascade of gears that commanded the accessories. It was built the best engine ever built so far, nice aesthetically. The frame could have three different solutions depending on the type of use:
- Long wheelbase (3.1 meters) for fast races like Le Mans. Several bodybuilders like Brianza, Figoni, Chestnut have used this frame for their accomplishments.
- Short wheelbase (2.75 meters) for road races, bodied by Zagato and Touring.
- Short wheelbase (2.65 meters) to the standards of the Grand Prix category called "Monza" after winning the Italian Grand Prix at Monza in 1931
When the car was built was the dream of every rider, powerful and driveable (compared to others), swept to victory and won every race for several years in all the major competitions of the time, such as the Mille Miglia and Le Mans 24 0re. Alfa Romeo, whose myth was already taken off with the 6C 1750, this car has gained primacy in competitions and history.
The model reproduces the car of Tazio Nuvolari won the Targa Florio in 1932.
